Hand Wearables Prototyping

Hand wearables prototyping process to extract parameters and templates for the design of interactive adhesive gloves. The goal was to determine the main features needed to personalize hand wearables for any user.

Appearance Altering of Objects using Mobile Prijectors.

This project objective was to create three mobile platforms to control the location and direction of three mobile projectors. The projectors were used to alter the appearance of objects by superimposing images.  Appearance editing can be used for scientific visualization, virtual restoration of art pieces, and display systems.

DFM - Design of a Hand Mixer

Design of a hand mixer and identification of potential areas of opportunity. The project targeted safety, functionality, manufacturing, assembly, and ergonomics. The blender design can be used as a hand blender in two different positions. It can be vertical with the handle aligned with the motor or bent 90 degrees for a conventional hold. The objective of the design was to allow users to select their preferred type of grasping depending on their applications.

Design Build and Fly - AIAA

Teams are invited to participate in the annual Design, Build. Fly competition. The missions were: "1) Ferry Flight with no payload to see how many laps each team could fly in 4 minutes. 2) Sensor Package Transport Mission with a 5 lb internal payload with the time to fly three laps as the score. 3) Sensor Drop Mission in which the externally carried payload (12” whiffle balls) were dropped on each lap with the score being the number of laps with a successful drop.

ZIRO Connectors

During the Product and Process Design class, we developed 3D printed connectors for Ziro, a modular robotic kit controlled through hand gestures. The project's objective is to create and prototype a collection of connectors that allow the de modules of the robotic kit to interconnect and connect with other materials and modular toys like Lego and Kenex to build any design.

Robotic Culture Media Dispenser

As an undergrad thesis project, I built a Robotic culture media dispenser supervised and certified by James Brown Pharma (ECU). The system uses UVC-light to ensure a sterile environment inside the metallic chamber. The dispenser uses a peristaltic pump to transport the culture media and a dispensing system controlled by a servo motor. The robotic manipulator is responsible for opening, closing, and storing the filled Petri dishes on the side f the chamber.

Art and Handcrafts

Ironman Helmet

The Ironman helmet was built by folding cardstock templates. To create the final shape and provide rigidity, I used around 4 layers of Bondo. Then internally was covered with one additional layer of plaster cloth gauze.

Vision for AR Application Scenarios

In this collection, I share some ideas representing applications using smart glasses and wearables to interact with augmented environments. The concept focuses on applying virtual content to everyday activities that we usually do to provide a novel way to interact with people and objects.

Entertainment Room

- Entertainment room with tribal decoration designed directly on the wall. The room area was 35 m² with walls of 3 m tall.
- The butterfly was made using a pressing technique over a thick aluminum sheet, then filled with hot glue for structure.
- The music sheet covering the 1.7m girl contains the song "Stairway To Heaven"- Led Zeppelin

Audio and Video Cabinet

To centralize the audio and video of the entertainment room, I designed a small cabinet that matched the style of the room. The cabinet had space for video games, cable tv, and audio distribution controls. Additionally, the cabined had a pair of fans on the sides to allow enough ventilation required when the video game system was used for many hours.

Drawings and Sketches

Sample sketches and drawings of dresses and accessories.

Cardboard & Woodwork

A Collection of some small projects developed using wood and cardboard as a base material. The projects were developed by hand and using a laser cutter.
